Day 2–Kulusuk/Scenic Copter Flight/Ammassalik/Valley of Flowers
After breakfast, fly to Kulusuk, Greenland. Then, take a short, incredibly scenic 10 minute helicopter flight across the ice-filled sea separating two mountainous islands to Ammassalik. East Greenland’s largest town, with about 1,400 residents, lies just south of Arctic Circle and boasts long hours of daylight in the summer and the splendor of the northern lights in the winter. Beautifully situated in a protective fjord and ringed by mountains, this lovely town is characterized by small, colorful wooden houses, where often several generations live together, with family’s sledge dogs tethered outside. In the afternoon, admire the Arctic summer flora and landscape in the pristine Valley of Flowers just outside Ammassalik Village. Tonight, you may well experience Greenland's peak "Midnight Sun".
Day 3–Ammassalik Your Way
Today, enjoy your time at leisure. Spend the day exploring the town of Tasiilaq on Ammassalik island. Visit the local Museum, with its traditional turf house and very fine collection of local art and cultural artifacts, or try one of the available boat tours.
This morning, take a helicopter back to Kulusuk for your flight to Reykjavik, where you can enjoy the amenities of the Grand Hotel.

Video: Midnight Sun in Iceland
This short, fascinating video of time-lapse images was shot by filmmaker Joe Capra. He traveled for 17 days around the entire island, shooting almost 24 hours a day to capture the amazing phenomenon of the Icelandic Midnight Sun. Writes Capra, "Iceland is a landscape photographer's paradise and playground, and should be number 1 on every photographers must-visit list. My advice to everyone out there, photographer or not, is simple... You MUST visit Iceland sometime during your lifetime. You will never regret it."
