Why Take a River Cruise?

17 AMADEUS Royal Sun Deck

As Country Travel DISCOVERIES has been rolling out 2015's Magical Danube & Prague President's Charter Cruise and planning for 2016's exciting new Rhine River Cruise & Switzerland discovery, we've been fielding many excited questions from people curious about river cruising. So, just why is river cruising one of the hottest trends in leisure travel today?

River cruising offers an unparalleled level of convenience where you will enjoy smooth and peaceful sailing throughout your cruise. Once on board, you will only unpack once in your comfortable, fully equipped cabin.

River cruising is comfortable and convenient. There are no all night parties, casinos on board (though some towns you visit may have them) or midnight buffets. You won't wait in long lines to dine and you don't need to get a number just to get off the ship. You will never have to tender into port as you stop right in the heart town.

River cruising in Europe is about experiencing and learning about the history and cities that are along the river. When you are cruising during the daytime it is often through the most historical and scenic spots in the area. Land is always in view so you're never just looking at water. Your boat is unique in that the restaurant is located on the mid-deck, which offers you floor to ceiling windows for great viewing while dining.

You won't deal with sea-sckness. Plus, there are no inside cabins or port holes, as all cabins have a window or a French Balcony. And if that's not enough....

Special: Autumn in the Big Apple with Steve

thumb NYC Night Skyline1 NYSDED 600CTD President Opens Special Tour to NYC this October

Good Morning!

I’d like to extend a personal invitation on behalf of a couple of friends of mine, Don & Pat Bardonner from Muskego, Wisconsin. Don & Pat have asked Country Travel DISCOVERIES to arrange a 5 day, 4 night tour of New York City for this October 21-26. They’ve arranged this trip for members of their church and, because those members will take up just about half of the motorcoach, are graciously allowing us to open up the remaining 20 spaces to our audience.

The trip is highlighted by visits to two Broadway shows and the World Trade Center Memorial, including the just-opened World Trade Center Museum—a very moving experience. But, there’s much more to this program that make this such a special way to visit the Big Apple...

Get Off the Beaten Path with a Group Tour

Yes, Even Today’s Independent Boomers Can Benefit from Professionally Organized Group Travel

riverlax.0792-1cMy in-laws are both in their 60’s and will retire later this year. After decades of the nine-to-five grind, they are eager to see the world and have adventures they’ve always dreamed of.

“We’re going to paint, rent an RV and head north to see the Northern Lights, visit all the National Parks, take dancing lessons, visit the shooting range, and even start a blog about our travels,” my father-in-law told me during a recent visit. “This is our time to try out all the things we’ve always been meaning to do.”
