A New Tour Coming Soon!

I recently had the opportunity to visit Charleston, Summerville, Augusta, Savannah, and Beaufort as part of the planning process for an exciting new tour available in 2026. Although CTD has explored these iconic cities before, we felt it was important to do some fresh scouting to uncover new experiences for our travelers and I found just that! During my visit, I was immersed in true Southern hospitality, rich history, coastal landscapes, leisurely carriage rides, Lowcountry cuisine, and of course, the endless charm these cities are known for. What else could you ask for?! Here is a sneak peak of a few great stops you’ll get to experience for yourself on your vacation to The Holy City, The Hostess City of the South and beyond!

Charleston -

There’s no better way to get to know Charleston than by a city tour that highlights its many well-preserved historic buildings. While on tour, I learned of Charleston's long history from past to present and even saw the famous Pineapple Fountain. After the tour, it was off to City Market for locally made goods, southern eats, and further exploration of this great city!

Over at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, I was able to stroll the grounds of one of the oldest public gardens in America. These beautiful gardens offered a unique blend of nature and rich history.

Summerville –

Summerville is often considered the birthplace of sweet tea, a drink that's become an iconic part of Southern culture. Here, I strolled Summerville’s charming streets as I gained insight into the sights, sounds, history, and flavors that make Summerville so sweet.

Augusta –

Over in Augusta, Georgia, I learned all about the city known for its Green Jackets and rich golf history. Here, our group will get to enjoy the views of an exclusive golf course while hearing the stories of the caddies who worked with famous players and at famous tournaments.

Savannah –

Over in Savannah, I got to experience a little bit of everything: a narrated trolley tour, Byrd’s Famous Cookies, a stay at the historic River Street Inn, Savannah’s Candy Kitchen’s delicious pralines, and of course, the iconic River Street and City Market. With its 22 beautiful squares, Savannah is truly a city with endless exploration!

Later, a visit to the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force was a highlight of my time in Savannah as a powerful tribute to the men and women who served in the 8th Air Force during World War II.

Beaufort –

Beaufort, South Carolina, is a charming coastal town that embodies the beauty and history of the Lowcountry. A carriage ride through its historic district was the perfect way to experience its picturesque waterfront, architecture, and rich history.

A trip to a local shrimping business was such an interesting experience that taught me so much about the shrimping industry, the importance of a fresh catch, and even the many ways that Beaufort is connected to the beloved film Forest Gump!

A visit to these picturesque cities makes for an unforgettable vacation, offering a vast mix of adventure, relaxation, quaint charm, and cultural exploration. I can’t wait for you to read more about all we have in store for you in our September catalog!
